Many studies show, that supervision is the most influential factor when it comes to PhD satisfaction. Additionally, supervision seems to strongly influence the time to degree. While this significance is well recognized, there is less consensus on a definition of good supervisor practice. Further, the kinds of support which can be provided by universities (and professionals in doctoral education) in order to improve supervision are still widely debated.
Discuss these and other questions with Stan Taylor, author of the "Handbook for Doctoral Supervisors" and Honorary Fellow in the School of Education at Durham University as well as with Melita Kovačević, Professor at the Department of Speech and Language Pathology at the University of Zagreb and Vice-President of the PRIDE Association!
